New Decade, New Horizons - The Future of IT Stream:
11.05-11.40
The computer industry has made a very dramatic shift in its
thinking and strategies from ever growing data processing and
storage capacity towards the concept of Utility Services. In part,
this shift has been driven by the extraordinary growth in capacity
offered by modern computing systems and by the need to offer
cheaper, more flexible services to the main stream market. The rise
of IT as a Service began in the Consumer Internet and yet analysts
and forecasters tell us that these changes will sweep away much of
what we have come to know and love as “business computing”. Are
there new horizons ahead? What will the new challenges be for IT
professionals?

The Risks and Rewards of Cloud Computing - The Future of IT
Stream: 11.45-12.20
The adoption of Cloud Computing offers the promise of reduced IT
costs, more rapid deployment, greener IT and anywhere, anytime, any
device application access. Current cloud services already support a
range of traditional applications such as messaging, collaboration
and CRM. New cloud compute platforms also offer the potential of
dramatic new capabilities such as real-time translation, geographic
mapping and voice to text accessed through low-cost devices which
might make the traditional PC redundant. However concerns still
exist within the enterprise; what about security and data
privacy? Is the IT industry really on the brink of a new
computing paradigm or are vendors just "cloud-washing" existing IT
services?

CyberSecurity & Threat Protection in a
Constantly Changing World - The Future of IT Stream : 1.20 -
1.55
Cybercrime is big business; today’s hackers are sophisticated,
experienced, organised and focused - and some are even
state-funded. They have the resources and expertise to target
your business; and they absolutely will not stop until they get
what they want. How you deal with this has never been so important,
as data breaches and cyber attacks can paralyse your organisation
and impact shareholder value and the subsequent PR nightmare of
dealing with the incident and implementing solutions after the
‘horse has bolted’ are costly, inconvenient and
embarrassing.

that will get you up and running.

Managing the complexity of change on the network - Closing
keynote presentation 3.05 - 3.50
By its very nature, the IT network is ever-changing. Keeping pace
with this change or better still, proactively managing it, is a
major challenge for any organisation. To manage change
effective (thus minimising risks, reducing costs and achieving
goals in a timely manner) requires a careful blend of people,
processes and technology – all working in concert. From audit
and inventory, through to self-service and integrated IT Service
Management, organisations need to take an integrated and holistic
approach to managing IT operations.
