Making the most of your reseller relationships
Organisations who acquire software licences through authorised
resellers
often believe that by default they are compliant, particularly
where volume licence agreements are involved.
FAST commends the decision to use authorised resellers, but
organisations must be fully aware of the agreements they are
signing up to and what the benefits and limitations of those
agreements are. After all, responsibility for ensuring software
licence compliance rests with an organisation, not with its
resellers.
Over the years, FAST has had many discussions with organisations
about their reseller relationships and a common pattern has
emerged. Many are not aware of all the licence
and agreement options available to them. This leaves organisations
in a position where they place their trust in the hands of their
resellers. A business’ core agenda is to maximise profits and sell
products and services at highest possible margin. If you apply this
methodology to resellers, whom organisations place their trust in
and seek advice from, resellers will base their recommendations and
advice on what best suits their financial position and gain.
